The streets are gearing up for a Knicks takeover.
On Wednesday, Knicks fans will flood New York City, hoping to secure the Eastern Conference title for the first time in 25 years.
One popular spot will be a bar decked out in the team’s colors, where fans can enjoy themselves as the main event unfolds at Radio City Music Hall.
Over 20 bars across Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and parts of New Jersey are involved in the Official New York Knicks Bar Takeover Program, providing a lively atmosphere to watch the game against the Indiana Pacers.
Many places are offering some fun per usual, from exclusive merchandise giveaways to drink specials.
Here’s a look at some of the watch parties happening around the city.
Radio City Music Hall
The official watch party will take place at this iconic venue, with doors opening at 7 PM. Tickets are available for $10, and proceeds support the Garden of Dreams Foundation.
It’s important to note that there won’t be an outdoor watch party at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. Recently, a large crowd celebrated a victory against the Boston Celtics, with fans even climbing poles and burning rival gear in the streets.
Goldie’s Tavern
If you’re planning to hit Goldie’s Tavern, don’t forget to wear your Knicks jersey on Wednesday. The bar is offering free Goldie lagers for those proudly sporting blue and orange.
Additionally, there will be drink specials, including $5 beers and $6 seltzers.
Mustang Harry
This bar, known as a fan hub for the Knicks, Rangers, and more, promises to help ease pre-game jitters for fans.
Just a block away from MSG, the bar features life-size player cutouts draped in Knicks flags, and every nook is equipped with a TV, even the bathrooms. Fans won’t miss a minute of the action.
Gin Mill
“We’re ready to party hard,” said Andrew Neesley, the operating partner of Gin Mill.
Located at 442 Amsterdam Ave., it offers $6 cocktails as part of the festivities.
What else is planned remains under wraps, but if things go south for the Knicks, there might be plenty of free shots to go around.
Feile
This Irish pub at 131 W 33rd St. is all set to serve up free orange and blue shots at halftime.
If all goes according to plan, there might be a second round, maybe even a third, after the game.
The pub has cardboard cutouts of some Knicks starters for fans to snap photos with—though one had to make a hasty exit thanks to a fan.
Pen 6
Just off the Knicks’ home turf, Pen 6 is setting up a 20-foot projector to stream the game, with the sound cranked up enough to feel like it’s right from MSG.
This spot is known for its post-game celebrations, where fans often take to the streets in excitement.
After the team secured their place in the Eastern Conference Finals, patrons spilled into the streets, with many returning just 20 minutes later.
“The energy here is amazing… it has its own vibe,” one fan remarked.
Pig’s Beach
In Astoria, Pig Beach is gearing up for a massive watch party featuring a 30-foot jumbotron and multiple screens.
This beer garden can accommodate around 2,000 fans, and lately, it has been bustling with Knicks supporters.
“The fans’ enthusiasm is off the charts. I come here to catch the games,” stated general manager Andrew Brennan.
