Week 12 Tight End Waiver Wire Watch
Hey there! The NFL weekend has come and gone, and, well, it might be too late to catch those games now. But, with Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, the fantasy playoffs are lurking just around the corner. It’s probably a good idea to start prepping for the postseason.
Let’s dive into some tight ends you might want to pick up from the waiver wire ahead of Week 12. Also, don’t forget—exempt additions are players who are rostered in up to 60% of leagues.
Week 12 Bye Teams: Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders
Darnell Washington, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers (1.1%)
The game wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, but the Steelers managed to beat the Bengals with some contributions from Washington. Formal defenders were all over the place during the 34-12 victory. Washington, in his third year from Georgia, caught four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown, which set a new career high for him. This is his fourth game with over three receptions in the last six matchups, and he has been getting a fair amount of playing time. He could be an appealing target for Aaron Rodgers as the Steelers aim for the AFC North title.
Week 12 matchups: @ Chicago Bears, 1:00 PM ET
Dalton Schultz, TE, Houston Texans (52.3%)
Schultz has remained a steady option for the Texans, making six catches for 51 yards in Sunday’s close 16-13 win over the Titans. Although he has been performing well, ranking in the top 10 among tight ends for receptions and yards, the absence of touchdowns this season has hurt his fantasy stats. Nevertheless, he’s been the top choice for both CJ Stroud and Davis Mills, so his importance in the offense is likely to continue.
Week 12 matchups: vs. Buffalo Bills, 8:15 PM ET (Thursday night)
Colby Parkinson, TE, Los Angeles Rams (0.6%)
Parkinson had two catches for 14 yards in a nail-biting 21-19 win against the Seahawks, one of which was a 6-yard touchdown that helped secure the lead in the fourth quarter. This marked the second week in a row he’s found the end zone, and he’s also seen an increase in playing time lately, participating in 69% of snaps. If you need a tight end for red zone opportunities, picking him up now could be a smart move since he’s rostered in less than 1% of leagues.
Week 12 matchups: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 8:20 PM ET
AJ Varner, TE, Seattle Seahawks (11.6%)
In the Seahawks’ recent loss, Sam Darnold’s four interceptions overshadowed Varner’s performance, but he was frequently targeted regardless. Varner finished with 10 catches for 70 yards. This third-year player has been carving out a role for himself in fantasy, as he’s now a scoring threat with four touchdowns this season. He has a good shot at delivering another solid performance this Sunday against the struggling Titans.
Week 12 matchups: @ Tennessee Titans, 1 PM ET.
