Top waiver wire additions for fantasy football kickers in Week 6

Week 6 Exemption Wire Watch

It’s October, and another NFL weekend has wrapped up. Several kickers are having impressive seasons, often proving pivotal in fantasy matchups. Sadly for the Indianapolis Colts, their standout kicker, Spencer Schladder, is sidelined for the rest of the season due to an ACL and MCL injury suffered during their victory over the Raiders. This opens up opportunities for others to step up in the coming weeks.

As we dive into the performances from Week 5, it’s a good time to scout the exemption wire. I categorize exemptions as players who are rostered in 50% of leagues.

Notable Absences for Week 6

Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings

Joey Sly, K, Tennessee Titans (3.9%)

This past Sunday, Tennessee secured their first win of the season, stopping Arizona’s late-game rally with a 22-21 finish. Sly clinched the victory with a 29-yard walk-off field goal, finishing the day with three successful field goals and one extra point attempt.

He’s been remarkably consistent for the Titans this season, averaging 11.2 fantasy points per game. Curiously, he’s tied with Ka’imi Fairbairn for over 50 field goals in five years, making him widely available in most leagues.

Week 6 Matchup

@Las Vegas Raiders, 4:05 PM

Matt Gay, K, Washington Commanders (27.1%)

Gay remained a dependable scorer on Sunday, hitting both of his field goals and going three for three on extra points in a 27-10 victory against the Chargers. Although he didn’t reach double digits in fantasy points this time, he is still one of the few kickers averaging 10 points per game.

With Jaden Daniels healthy, the Commanders’ attack is in a solid position, allowing Gay to keep putting points on the board.

Week 6 Matchup

vs. Chicago Bears, 8:15 PM (Monday night)

Eddy Pineiro, K, San Francisco 49ers (2.4%)

Even with numerous injuries to key players, the 49ers showcased their resilience, pulling off a 26-23 overtime win over the Rams last Thursday. Pineiro had an impressive showing, achieving the second-best fantasy performance among kickers, going four for four on field goals and two for two on extra points.

Leading the NFL with an average of 11.5 fantasy points per game, he seems poised to maintain that status through the season. With a roster percentage under 3%, he could be a valuable addition if you check the exemption wire this week.
