Top wide receiver waiver wire picks for fantasy football in Week 4

Welcome to the Week 4 Exemption Wire Watch!

This past weekend was quite eventful in the NFL, with special teams really stepping up in several games. Whether you’re trying to win a Fantasy League matchup or just want to improve your roster, you might be looking for ways to enhance your lineup before the next week. We’re here to help with that.

Here are some notable wide receivers to consider picking up from the exemption wire as we approach Week 4. We usually look for players who are rostered in about 60% of the leagues or less. So keep that in mind, as this is the last chance to grab players before every team makes their final roster decisions.

Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (2.9%)

Tre Tucker had an outstanding performance on Sunday, although it came in a loss to the Commanders. The third-year receiver caught eight of nine targets for 145 yards and three touchdowns, racking up an impressive 40.9 fantasy points in a PPR league.

He seems to have developed a strong rapport with quarterback Geno Smith, having been targeted 17 times over the last couple of weeks. That’s definitely something to consider as he could emerge as a key pass-catching option moving forward.

Week 4 matchup: vs. Chicago Bears, 4:25 PM

Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers (28.7%)

Quentin Johnston is having a breakout season, and his solid performance helped the Chargers to a 23-20 win over the Denver Broncos. The third-year wideout registered six receptions for 89 yards, landing in the top five for receiving yards across the league by the end of Sunday.

Justin Herbert has been airing it out, giving Johnston plenty of chances even with other established targets like Keenan Allen on the field. With Johnston still available in less than 30% of leagues, snagging him from the exemption wire could be a great move, allowing you to slot him right into your starting lineup.

Week 4 matchup: @New York Giants, 1 PM

Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears (18.1%)

Luther Burden III showed his potential during the Bears’ impressive 31-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, tallying 101 yards on just three catches and scoring a touchdown. This performance positioned him as a top-10 fantasy receiver for the week.

Although he has only run 24 routes in three games, he averages an impressive 4.29 yards per route run. This small sample suggests he can find open space effectively, making him a valuable asset for quarterback Caleb Williams and a player to consider from the exemption wire this week.

Week 4 matchup: @Las Vegas Raiders, 4:25 PM

Tyquan Thornton, WR, Kansas City Chiefs (1.4%)

Kansas City’s offense may be struggling, but Tyquan Thornton has become a reliable target. He caught five of nine passes for 71 yards and scored a touchdown against the New York Giants on Sunday night—his second consecutive game finding the end zone.

With injuries and a suspension impacting the receiver lineup, Thornton is capitalizing on his opportunity and may need to see more targets from Patrick Mahomes going forward. He could be a smart addition from the wire this week.

Week 4 matchup: vs. Baltimore Ravens, 4:25 PM

Tory Horton, WR, Seattle Seahawks (3.8%)

Tory Horton has shown his value to the Seahawks in various ways, particularly during their 44-13 win over the New Orleans Saints. The rookie from Colorado recorded a touchdown during the game and also made a significant contribution with a 95-yard punt return.

His skills on special teams further enhance his fantasy value. If you’re browsing the exemption wire this week, you might want to seriously consider adding him to your roster.
