Tori Kelly Welcomes First Child
Grammy Award-winning artist Tori Kelly and her husband recently announced the birth of their first child, a son named Zyden Michael Murillo.
The couple shared the news of the pregnancy back in July, with Kelly expressing her gratitude for the new addition, saying, “I’m so grateful for what’s to come and can’t wait to discover this little gift from God.”
On Sunday, she shared the first photo of their baby, revealing that he was born on November 11 and adding, “We love you so much, sweetie.”
Kelly is well-known for her distinctive mix of pop, soul, and R&B music, boasting three Grammy Awards to her name, including two in 2019 for her gospel work: Best Gospel Album for hiding place and Best Gospel Song for never alone.
Being a Christian artist, she has collaborated with several notable figures in the Christian music scene, such as King & Country and Kirk Franklin, and her song never alone showcased her partnership with Franklin.
In a past interview in 2021, Kelly mentioned to fellow artist Ally Brooke that her faith is crucial in keeping her grounded amidst the whirlwind of her career. She reflected on how important it is to maintain priorities, stating, “It’s amazing what we can do, right? And not everyone can do this. Only a small percentage of people in the world can do what we’re doing. And it’s incredible. I’m very grateful.”
Yet, she also acknowledged the challenges of staying humble in the spotlight, explaining that her Christian faith helps her stay connected to her true identity. “If all that goes away, my identity is in Christ,” she said, emphasizing that despite her achievements, her worth is anchored in her beliefs.
Kelly expressed that it’s easy to get caught up in the fame, but she strives to remember that, fundamentally, “I’m on the same level as everyone else.” She aims to maintain that perspective in her professional life as well.
