Americans, especially Republicans, don't want to hear political opinions from athletes or celebrities, an AP-NORC poll found.
The survey was conducted jointly by The Associated Press and the University of Chicago's Nonpartisan Center for National Opinion Research and was released Thursday.
Just under 40% of Democratic respondents said they support celebrities sharing their opinions on politics, compared to just 11% of Republicans and 12% of independents.
The answers regarding professional athletes were similar, with 39% of Democrats approving of the activities of professional athletes, but only 16% of Republicans and 15% of independents.
