Spurs approach this game having failed to defeat Gareth Taylor’s side in two-and-a-half years. In fact, over their last seven meetings Manchester City have won by a total margin of 20 goals to one. But that streak could be ended today with a place in the FA Cup final four at stake.

Journey to the quarterfinals

Tottenham played in the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup, facing Championship side Sheffield United. Spurs had a real scare as they were two goals behind, but Bethany England’s brace brought them level, and Rosella Ayane scored the winning goal in the 96th minute.

Robert Billaham’s side faced Charlton in the fifth round and won 1-0 thanks to a 76th minute goal from Kit Graham.

Meanwhile, Manchester City beat Durham 4-0 on matchday four with goals from Laura Coombs, Jill Lord and Mary Fowler. In the next round they faced 14-time champions Arsenal, who won 1-0 at Meadow Park and booked their place in the quarter-finals.

share

These two teams have already met three times this season, with City outscoring Spurs each time.

Back in November, Gareth Taylor’s side beat Tottenham 7-0 in Manchester. They won two of two in the WSL at Brisbane Road in January and qualified for the Continental Cup semi-finals with a 1-0 win last month.

Can Robert Villahamn’s side finally find a way past their WSL rivals today?
