Singer Sawyer Hill has made the difficult decision to cancel his tour following a tragic bus accident that claimed the life of one of his crew members.
On October 14, he shared on Instagram that the incident occurred during the night near the Colorado-Wyoming border, when the bus veered off the road and overturned.
“It was a terrifying experience for everyone on board, including me. We are heartbroken to report that our driver has died,” he stated.
He mentioned that several crew and band members sustained injuries in the crash.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and out of respect for that process, as well as for our driver and his family, we can’t provide more details right now,” he noted.
After “careful consideration,” Hill concluded that it wouldn’t be feasible to continue the “Everybody’s Home, Nobody’s Happy” tour, emphasizing that the focus now needs to be on processing and healing.
He mentioned that while they are working on rescheduling dates, ticket refunds are available for those who purchased them.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out there with all of you,” he added, thanking his supporters for their understanding during this challenging time.
In his post, he expressed, “My heart is broken; I’m so sorry, guys.”
A relative of the deceased driver, identified as David “RollingCloud” Jackson, disclosed that he experienced a medical emergency while driving, leading to the bus crossing three lanes of traffic before rolling over.
“Fortunately, the band members aboard the bus survived. Unfortunately, David lost his life,” she wrote, explaining that the family was unaware of his underlying health issues prior to his passing.
She added that the autopsy revealed he had died before the accident occurred. “There was no warning, no time to prepare, and no chance to say goodbye,” she shared. Jackson, deeply fond of the music industry, was a father of four and a grandfather of three.
The family is requesting donations to help bring his body back from Wyoming to Minnesota.
Fans have been expressing their condolences in the comments on Hill’s post. One fellow musician shared memories about how Jackson provided support to bands in need during their tours, expressing sadness over his untimely passing. Another follower remarked on Jackson being a beautiful soul, highlighting the impact he had on those who knew him.
