Welcome to Playing Through's daily ritual, Golf Talk Today.
There are two rounds left until the 2024 FedEx Cup winner is decided. The average score in the second round was 68.7, and there were eight rounds of 67 or better. East Lake played a little harder, but that wasn't a problem for Scottie Scheffler.
On Friday, he hit fairway after fairway, avoided costly mistakes and looked unstoppable.
Scheffler opened the tournament at 21 under par with a 5-under 66 after a 6-under 65 in the first round and finished at 10 under par. Not even a weather delay on Friday could slow him down.
He's four strokes behind second-place Collin Morikawa, who shot an 8-under 63 on Friday, his lowest score of the tournament so far.
Xander Schauffele bounced back to take third place with a 7-under 64. Schauffele sits at 16-under. Sahith Teegala shot a 5-under 66 to move up five spots on the leaderboard. Teegala, who has his whole family cheering him on this week, is tied for fourth with Wyndham Clark and Adam Scott at 12-under.
Now, as moving day approaches, I'd like to announce the tee times for round three.
