The trailer explosion and fire, which blocked lanes of the highway and forced the evacuation of nearby homes, was captured on shocking video taken by a passerby.
The video begins in Clifton, New Jersey., A fire engine was parked and as firefighters were walking away from the flames towards the engine, an explosion occurred, attracting the firefighters’ attention.
“Oh my goodness,” X user @gelo__25 can be heard saying in the 15-second video shared at 9:32 a.m. “I just caught that on camera.”
The firefighter took a few steps back before deciding to walk towards the flames.

The video begins with a Clifton Fire Department fire truck in front of the burning trailer.
“Oh my god” was heard and then a second explosion occurred, sending flaming projectiles into the air.
The fire started on Route 46, where it turns into Route 3 in New Jersey, @gelo__25 posted on X.

“Clifton Police and Fire Department acted quickly and removed the vehicle quickly. Great job,” User X added in the post.
Clifton Police Department FOX 5 New York Police received a report of a large commercial vehicle on fire and the sound of an explosion at 9.07am on Monday.
First arriving officers also witnessed additional explosions, forcing them to evacuate nearby homes as a precaution.

The second explosion sent projectiles into the air, catching firefighters off guard.
Route 3 was closed in both directions at Valley Road and Grove Street, causing major traffic congestion near the scene near the southbound ramp to Exit 153 on the Garden State Parkway.

As of 1:33 p.m. 511nj.org “There is a tractor-trailer fire in both directions on NJ Route 3 at Grove Street in Clifton. All lanes are closed. Evening rush hour commuters should avoid delays and use alternative routes,” it read.
Police have not yet said what caused the accident or whether anyone was injured.
