Shocking video shows a CSX freight train slamming into a giant, tank-like Army artillery vehicle that was stuck on the tracks in South Carolina on Thursday, destroying the $1.5 million wheeled weapon.
Dramatic dashcam footage shows the train colliding with a howitzer – a cannon-like weapon used for long-range firing – which was being mounted on a large truck in the town of Goose Creek at 6.45pm.
“It felt like a bomb had gone off,” Sonia Pitt said. He told local broadcaster WCSC“We were shaking inside. The nerves were on edge.”
The horrifying footage shows the train slamming into the tank, throwing it onto the road and its gun spinning after the impact, sending metal chucks flying into the air, as bystanders scream “No!” and horns blare.
Mr Pitt said the truck driver managed to escape the vehicle before the crash.
“He jumped out of the truck, the train was coming towards him and then maybe five seconds later the train hit him and destroyed everything,” she said.

The military vehicle was identified as an M109 Paladin howitzer and was valued at $1.5 million. According to the UK Telegraph.
No injuries were reported.
