Train Slams into Military Tank Stuck on Tracks in South Carolina

A freight train was caught on video crashing into an 18-wheeler truck towing a military artillery car that became stuck on the tracks in South Carolina.

The large trailer, believed to be carrying an M109 Paladin howitzer, was crossing the railroad tracks in Goose Creek on Thursday afternoon when it was struck by a bullet. HitFox News reported.

Video taken by bystander Jennifer Clinton and her son shows the train honking its horn at the obstacle before slamming into it, damaging a crosswalk in the process.

“My son is a little shaken up, but yeah, we're OK,” Clinton said, adding that it was “sad to watch.”

The media reported that the man who jumped out of the trailer refused medical treatment.

Goose Creek Police said there were no reports of injuries.

It is unclear where the howitzer, a mobile weapon typically operated by a crew of four, was headed or to which unit it belonged.

The extent of damage to all vehicles involved in the accident was not immediately known.
