Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. Lindsay Williams gave controversial testimony at the state capitol on Wednesday, opposing a bill banning trans athletes in girls' sports.
In a statement prepared ahead of the committee's vote on the Save Women's Sports Act, Williams suggested that female athletes are physically comparable to male athletes and do not face biological disadvantages.
“I want every girl to know that there are elected officials like me who believe that women's bodies are as strong, fast and capable as men's,” Williams said.
“I want all girls to know that there are elected officials like me who never underestimate their ability to defeat boys in their sports, because the premise of this bill is assumed, with women's bodies being fewer than men's bodies, girls automatically at a disadvantage.

Williams also continued to suggest that the issues of biological men participating in girls and women's sports are “constructed issues.”
“For what reason, besides political interests, do we spend time and taxpayer dollars on fully constructed issues?” she said.
