Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that West Ham target Niklas Fürkrug will leave their pre-season training camp for talks with an unnamed club.
The 31-year-old Germany international has been linked with a move to the London Stadium this summer as new manager Julen Lopetegui searches for a new striker, and Furkrug appears one step closer to a move to England after leaving Dortmund’s Switzerland base.
“Niklas Füllkrug left training camp in Switzerland on Saturday morning. Borussia Dortmund have given the striker permission to leave for negotiations with other clubs,” a post from Dortmund on X read. Füllkrug scored 12 goals in 29 Bundesliga games last season and represented his country at Euro 2024.
West Ham have completed the signing of Leeds winger Crisencio Summerville for a reported fee of £25 million, which could rise to £34 million in add-ons. The 22-year-old winger, last season’s Championship Player of the Year, has agreed a five-year contract with the option to extend for a further year.
“I’m very happy and eager to get started. This is the perfect next step for my career. West Ham United is a big club with big ambitions and great players so I’m really excited to come here and get started,” Somerville said.
“I always try to follow my heart and I felt this was the best place to continue developing as a player and fulfil my potential,” the Dutchman added. “I spoke with the head coach (Lopetegui) and he convinced me that I could make an impact and contribute to our success in the new season.”
Summerville has made 89 appearances for Leeds, scoring 25 goals, since joining from Feyenoord in September 2020. He is one of the club’s new signings at the London Stadium this summer, joining Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and back-up keeper Wes Foderingham.
Fulham FC Barcelona have signed defender Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal for an undisclosed fee but reports suggest it is around £6.7 million, and the Spanish centre-back has signed a four-year contract.
“I’m really happy, I’m very proud to be here, I’m very happy to be here and to play for Fulham,” the 24-year-old said after his Premier League move was confirmed. “I like Fulham better in terms of the city, the club and the historic stadium and I want to play in the Premier League.”
Borussia Dortmund Manchester City have announced that Jan Couto will join the club on a season-long loan deal next summer with the option of a permanent transfer for €30 million (£25.6 million). City had initially given the 22-year-old Brazilian right-back, who is on loan at partner club Girona, permission to train with Borussia Dortmund in Switzerland before the transfer was completed.
Couto told Dortmund’s official website: “For me it’s a dream come true. Borussia Dortmund is a special club. Every kid in Brazil knows how great the club is, they know the fans and they are fascinated by the Yellow Walls. I can’t wait to put on the BVB shirt for the first time and experience the power and emotion of this amazing stadium.”
Atletico Madrid The club announced two signings on Saturday, with the arrival of Spain centre-back Robin Le Normand being confirmed after agreeing a €30 million transfer fee with Real Sociedad. The La Liga club also completed the transfer of Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth for €35 million, with the midfielder set to replace Alvaro Morata as the starting centre-forward.
