Gov. Doug Burgum (R-North Dakota) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that it would be a “travesty of justice” if former President Donald Trump is convicted in the New York corporate records trial. He said he was deaf.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Polls show that many Americans believe President Trump did commit a crime in this incident, and that it was unethical but not illegal.” “If you include people, that’s the majority.” Let me ask you this: If Donald Trump were to be convicted as a felon because of this incident, would that affect support for Trump as president? ”
Burgum said: “If he becomes a convicted felon in this case, it’s just a travesty of justice because, as I said, if there’s an error in the business declaration, it’s again Because it’s in response to what happened, and it’s not illegal to do it.” Paying people for non-disclosure agreements that happen all the time. I’m sure this network and others have done it. Therefore, it is not a law. This is why the outcome of this trial will not change many people’s minds. In fact, it may help President Trump in some ways because it reinforces the idea that the Biden administration is using the legal battle to attack its political opponents. ”
