Travis Hunter Celebrates First NFL Touchdown
Travis Hunter’s long-anticipated moment in the end zone thrilled his biggest fans, especially his wife, Leanna Reaney. After the rookie made his start for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 against the Rams in London, she joyfully shared the news of his first NFL touchdown on her Instagram Story.
“It’s about time!!!” she exclaimed, posting a photo of Hunter’s score in the fourth quarter at Wembley Stadium.
Hunter, who plays both cornerback and wide receiver, was pivotal in a 34-yard pass from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, which helped the Jaguars avoid a complete shutout, ultimately losing to the Rams 35-7.
The 22-year-old, who was a standout at Colorado, ended the game with eight receptions, racking up 101 yards. The Jaguars now sit at 4-3 as they head into their bye week and plan to return to the field on November 2 in Las Vegas.
Drafted second overall this year, Hunter arrived in Jacksonville amid high expectations due to his versatile skills. While he hasn’t yet made a significant impact, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner emphasizes the importance of patience during his rookie season.
“Being patient is very important to me,” Hunter mentioned recently. “I have to leave the game to myself. The coaches are making adjustments, and I just need to keep fulfilling my role and maintain the players’ trust in me because I’m committed to my job.”
In the first six games, Hunter has secured 20 receptions for 197 yards while contributing defensively with 14 tackles, ten of which were solo. It’s been quite a year for him, marked by personal milestones. He married his longtime girlfriend, Renee, in May, shortly after being drafted, and they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in August.
