Travis Kelce insisted he hasn't changed despite his slow start to the 2024 NFL season.
The Chiefs' star tight end told reporters Friday that he's still working as hard as ever to get back to the production Kansas City fans expect.
“This year's statistics may show something different, but at the same time we're going to see the same people in this building. That's all I really care about,” Kelce said. . “I'm my own worst critic. Everything outside this building is just noise.”
The Chiefs enter Sunday's matchup with the division rival Chargers at 3-0 despite Kelce catching just eight passes and no touchdowns.
Through three games, second-year wide receiver Laci Rice has replaced Kelce as Patrick Mahomes' top target in the passing game.
Rice entered Week 4 with 24 receptions on 29 targets and two touchdowns through the air.
Kelce said he was pleased with the Chiefs' performance.

“I'm lucky. I've had some success in the past and I've realized that the ball doesn't always get to one person,” Kelce said in a press conference. “It wasn’t always available, but at the same time I had full faith.” [Mahomes] To make the right decisions, and he has made great decisions. we may not be able to hold back [many] We got the points we wanted, but at the same time we're 3-0 and we're doing the right thing.”
Kelce's production has taken a step back over the past year.
In 2023, Kelce, 34, will have fewer than 1,000 yards receiving for the first time since 2015, his second full season in the NFL.
The five total touchdowns were the fewest since 2016.
Despite being undefeated, the Chiefs offense was underwhelming in 2024, gaining just 5.4 yards per play, which ranks tied for 15th in the league.
