Travis Kelce Talks NFL Future and Engagement
Travis Kelce doesn’t quite feel his age—35—but he’s definitely in a youthful mood as he anticipates what could be his final NFL season. While speaking with journalists from Brazil on Thursday, just ahead of the Chiefs’ season opener against the Chargers, he contemplated the prospect of his “last dance,” especially now that he’s engaged to pop superstar Taylor Swift.
“I mean, am I saying this is the last one? Well, maybe, but honestly, I feel young and ready to rock,” he expressed enthusiastically.
As Kelce enters his 13th season on September 5th, 2025, he’s got quite a resume. A 10-time Pro Bowler and a three-time Super Bowl champion, he took on a prominent role this offseason after a quieter 2024 season.
Last year, Kelce recorded his lowest stats to date with just 823 yards and three touchdowns over 16 regular-season games. In fact, he had little impact during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, managing only four receptions for 39 yards in a 40-22 defeat.
Reflecting on that tough loss, Kelce remarked, “I tossed it in the trash can,” referencing how he quickly moved past the disappointment. “I was more focused this offseason than you might think.”
Now, he’s gearing up to play the final year of a lucrative two-year contract extension worth $34.25 million that he signed in 2024.
In a happy turn of events, he recently proposed to Swift, and seems to be entering this season on a high note. The two have been dating since 2023, with Swift coming out to support him at games over the past two seasons.
“Life’s definitely been more fun since I started dating Taylor. It’s been exciting, for sure. Sure, there’s been added attention, but I’m just living my life and enjoying it,” he shared with reporters.
As for Swift’s plans for the opening game on Friday, that’s still uncertain.
The Chiefs are set to host the Eagles next week in a rematch of the Super Bowl, which is sure to bring its own set of challenges and excitement.
