Travis Kelce is set to marry Taylor Swift as the Chiefs anticipate retirement following the 2026 NFL season.

Travis Kelce may be turning a new page in his love story, as the 2025 NFL season could very well be his last. Inside sources from the Chiefs organization are gearing up for what many believe will be a Hall of Fame season, amid swirling rumors about his potential retirement.

This season marks Kelce’s 13th in the NFL after he was picked in the third round of the 2013 Draft.

“Since he announced his return to the Chiefs in late February, all indications have pointed toward Kelse’s last season, the 2025 season,” ESPN noted recently. The report mentions that Kelce has only discussed this season with the team, and various front office people have hinted at retirement while expressing gratitude for his contributions to the franchise.

There’s been plenty of buzz about when he might hang up his cleats, especially since he contemplated retirement in the offseason after struggling with some post-career thoughts.

Last year was notably rough for Kelce, who had his lowest performance with just 832 yards and three touchdowns—a stark contrast to his usual exploits.

However, he redeemed himself with a standout performance in the Super Bowl against the Eagles, making many question if he would fully embrace life after football alongside his superstar fiancée, Taylor Swift.

Kelce couldn’t shake the feeling about how he wanted this season to conclude. The 35-year-old, who celebrated a birthday in January, emphasized, “I can’t go out like that,” when speaking to ESPN.

He mentioned to Pat McAfee of ESPN that he’d be back on February 27th, determined to make a strong showing in what many consider his final contract extension year.

“I’m definitely coming back,” he stated through text. “We need to shake off that bad taste from how we finished last season.”

In preparation to bounce back, Kelce focused on losing weight to regain some agility and speed he felt he lost over time.

Last season saw him struggling with an average of just 8.5 yards per reception, which isn’t typical for him. “You need to rebuild your body,” he remarked. “This year, I had time to really focus on improving early in the offseason, unlike last year. I feel good and I think it will pay off.”

The Chiefs are set to kick off their season in Brazil on September 5th. They are among the favorites for the Super Bowl with their odds indicating strong potential against the Chargers and others.

Kelce has been a key player in three Super Bowl wins and has appeared in five overall.

“Hopefully he can shine this season,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said during this year’s combine, according to ESPN. “It would be magical to see him end his stunning career on a high note.”
