Travis Kelce’s Thoughts on Eric Bieniemy’s Return
Did Travis Kelce drop a clue about his NFL future while reacting to Eric Bieniemy’s expected return as the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator? It seems possible.
During a recent episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Kelce expressed enthusiasm about Bieniemy coming back. “I can’t wait to have him back in the building,” he said. “He’s one of my all-time favorite coaches and people. I’ve experienced so much growth under his guidance, both as a player and a person. I really admire this guy, and it’ll be fantastic to see him back with the Chiefs.”
Bieniemy previously served as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022, before taking on a different role elsewhere. Notably, he was a key figure in two of the Chiefs’ last three Super Bowl victories.
Kelce mentioned that, considering Bieniemy’s coaching style and personality, his return feels like a continuation of something good. “It’s a wonderful thing. I think it’s a marriage that picks up where it left off,” he remarked. He also highlighted how Bieniemy’s influence can be seen in the way the Bears approached their season under head coach Ben Johnson.
With discussions on Kelce’s future still up in the air, there remain questions about whether he’ll be back next season for his 14th year. He indicated that decisions regarding his playing career would be made during the offseason, though he is unsure how long it might take before arriving at a conclusion.
This past season marked a shift for the Chiefs, ending in a losing record for the first time since 2012.
