Travis Kelce reflects positively on Super Bowl 2026 a year after Chiefs' disappointment

Travis Kelce appeared cheerful ahead of the 2026 Super Bowl in Santa Clara on Sunday.

The tight end for the Chiefs participated at Levi’s Stadium as one of the nominees for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. This comes a year after a tough loss to the Eagles in the Super Bowl, where the award was presented to linebacker Bobby Wagner at the NFL Honors on Thursday.

At 36, Kelce was seen alongside Jarrett and Brittney Payton, the children of the late Walter Payton. The award celebrates not just athletic excellence but also the positive impact players make off the field.

The three-time Super Bowl champion was recognized as Kansas City’s club champion in December.

This offseason has been different for Kelce. The Chiefs’ journey ended early in December when quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL, clearing the path for a disappointing finish of 6 wins and 11 losses.

Reflecting on last year, Kelce and the Chiefs were fighting for a remarkable third consecutive Super Bowl title, having won against the Eagles and 49ers in the 2023 and 2024 games, respectively.

Philadelphia bested the defending champs 44-20 last February, an event attended by several celebrities, including Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift.

They are said to be planning a summer wedding, though it’s uncertain if Kelce will align his training camp schedule with that.

No official news has come from Kelce about his football future. However, reports indicate that he is likely to return for another season.

In the meantime, Kelce enjoyed Super Bowl weekend in San Francisco, even making an appearance in The Chainsmokers’ DJ booth during a Sports Illustrated event on Saturday.
