Travis Kelce was seen with Odell Beckham Jr. shortly before the Chiefs kicked off their season in Brazil on Friday.
The duo was on the sidelines, alongside Brazilian soccer star Neymar, waving briefly in a video shared by the Chiefs.
“Now, Dawg,” Kelce told Beckham before shaking hands with others.
Currently a free agent, Beckham hasn’t joined an NFL team yet this season. However, he has stated his intent to play after a fake retirement story made the rounds on social media back in August.
Beckham, 32, dismissed the false report via several posts on X (formerly Twitter), expressing confusion: “Laughter wtf… when was it announced?”
He added, “It’s not over yet… I had a blessed day, thankful for HR concerns.”
Continuing his rebuttal, Beckham mentioned he might block anyone wishing him to retire happily.
“Not seriously,” he wrote later on the platform. “PLZ stop reading everything on the internet and stop trying to prevent me from retiring happy.”
Beckham last played with the Dolphins in 2024, where he recorded only 55 plays totaling 55 yards.
NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported in August that Beckham has been drawing interest from multiple teams and plans to play in 2025, though it’s uncertain if the Chiefs are among them.
The Kansas City Chiefs faced the Chargers at Collington Arena in Sao Paulo, with the NFL hosting a weekly game in Brazil for the second consecutive year.
Neymar Jr. was also noted for greeting Kelce during warm-ups prior to the game.
Kelce expressed his enthusiasm about playing in Brazil, saying, “I want to say hello to everyone in the crowd.”
“I’m excited about tomorrow,” he continued. “It’s great that people take the time to come out and watch American sports.”
He also casually shared the news of his engagement to Taylor Swift, talking about how lively his life has become since beginning their relationship.
“I got another ring, two if I’m counting my first Super Bowl (while dating Taylor),” Kelce remarked. “Life has been fun since I started dating her. It’s exciting, and obviously, with more eyes on me, I’ll embrace it.”
Reportedly, Swift did not attend the games in South America.
