Travis Kelsey couldn’t celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2023 Super Bowl win at the White House because of his expired ID.
Ahead of the team’s presidential visit, the superstar tight end lost his driver’s license and now lives in Missouri but is now driving on an expired 2018 Ohio license.
“They were checking the list and I gave them my ID and there they told me I was denied entry to the White House because my license had expired. I sat and waited,” said Kelce.New Heights Podcast.
In the end, it all worked out for Kelsey, throwing 81 yards with one touchdown in the Chiefs’ 38-35 Super Bowl win over Philadelphia while facing Jason, the Eagles’ center brother and podcast co-host. contributed greatly to
“I think I could have handed over any ID that had a picture with my name on it,” Kelce said.
Monday was the team’s first visit to the White House. The 2020 Champions visit has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ID fights aren’t the only funny thing about Kelsey’s DC trip.
Kelsey lined up on the podium as President Joe Biden and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes turned away to reclaim the president’s Kansas City jersey.
He could barely speak until Mahomes pushed him away from the microphone.
“The president at the podium is iconic. That’s all I wanted to say, dude,” Kelth joked.
In addition to failing to give a speech at the rostrum, Kelth was unable to find the national treasure despite his efforts.
“I may have opened a door that wasn’t meant to be opened, but it was the mansion part of the White House, not the West Wing, which probably has all the good stuff,” he said.
Heading into this season, the Chiefs will strive to return to the White House next spring.
