San Antonio police say a Venezuelan immigrant has been charged in the July murder of a teenage boy. The man, a suspected gun trafficker and member of the Torren de Aragua gang, was released by the Biden administration after entering the United States illegally.

Police said the Venezuelan immigrant is suspected of being a member of the Torren de Aragua gang. He was ordered deported by an immigration judge in October.
In July, police began investigating the shooting death of a teenage boy. Surviving witnesses said they were abducted and transported to a field near the quarry. After Cilla Vargas left the scene, the surviving witness pretended to be dead and called police, the report said. Multiple witnesses identified Cilla Vargas as one of the men who carried out the attack.

During the initial investigation, detectives discovered that an armed robbery had been reported in the immediate vicinity of the shooting scene. Interviewing the robbery victim provided investigators with limited information. However, investigators would learn that the victim was with Alexis Jose Vargas at the time of his death. Detectives reinterviewed the victim, who had witnessed the murder. He is being held in an ICE facility in Colorado and admitted to misleading police before his arrest. A witness told police that he and Alexis Jose Vargas were in an apartment where he, Vargas, and a third person were detained by armed suspects who allegedly included Shira Vargas.
