A child affiliated with the Tren de Aragua, known as the “Little Devils” gang, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. This followed an alleged violent robbery involving a 16-year-old disabled boy from Staten Island, as reported by police sources.
Authorities believe that a group of Venezuelan immigrants, a part of the young gang members causing fear in New York City, were taken in for questioning on May 5 regarding the incident that occurred outside the Staten Island Mall.
According to police, four youths participated in the violent act, during which the victim was reportedly kicked and punched.
Officers stated that the gang stole the victim’s bag and $38 before escaping. While the victim sustained injuries, they did not require hospitalization. As of Wednesday morning, no charges had been filed related to this incident.
This follows the NYPD’s release of surveillance images on Tuesday, showcasing one of the four young suspects they sought to interview regarding the incident.
However, clarity regarding whether anyone identified through these images was connected to the child gang member on the poster remains uncertain. Reports indicate that this young suspect was arrested during recent operations in the city.
The teenage suspect is believed to have ties to “Los Diablos de la 42,” a crew of around 20 young immigrants who predominantly target locals and tourists through armed robberies in places like Times Square.
According to immigration sources, they are thought to have entered the U.S. through Eagle Pass, Texas, in May 2023. They were later apprehended last October when a Midtown individual reported being threatened with a knife and robbed of a phone.
Furthermore, it’s suggested that this individual was involved in a separate incident from May 2024, where a group attacked two passengers on a Queens subway train using brass knuckles.
