Trever Nehls Seeks to Replace Twin Representative Troy Nehls in Texas

Trevor Neals Announces Candidacy for Texas’ 22nd Congressional District

Trevor Neals, the former constable of Fort Bend County and identical twin to retiring Congressman Troy Neals, has launched his campaign to represent Texas’ 22nd Congressional District, backed by his brother.

In a Facebook update on Saturday, he shared, “I am honored to announce my candidacy for the 22nd Congressional District as I continue to fight for the people of this district.” He mentioned his intention to carry on his brother’s legacy, highlighting Troy’s integrity, courage, and dedication to public safety. Trevor added, “I will stand alongside President Trump to defend our conservative values, protect our borders, protect our families, and oppose the reckless and extremist policies that Democrats continue to impose on the American people.”

This announcement comes after Rep. Troy Neals’ decision to retire from Congress. In a statement earlier, he expressed a desire to return home and focus on family, explaining that the choice was made “after discussions with my beautiful bride and daughters over the Thanksgiving holiday.” His retirement marks the end of a career in public service that extends over three decades, including military and law enforcement service, as well as six years representing Texas’ 22nd District in the state House.

Troy Neals, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, was recognized for advocating legislation on immigration enforcement and victim assistance. Throughout his tenure, he introduced various bills, such as the REMOVE Act and the ATD Act, which aimed to speed up deportation processes and ensure adherence to immigration court rulings. He also co-sponsored the Justice for Angel Families Act, designed to aid families affected by crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

Expressing confidence in his brother’s qualifications, Troy Neals remarked, “I support my brother Trevor as my successor in Congress because I trust him, I believe in him, and I know he will fight every day for the people of this district. He will not need on-the-job training. He is ready to go.”

Trevor Neals brings to the table experience in law enforcement and electoral politics. He previously ran for Fort Bend County Judge in 2022 but narrowly lost to Democratic incumbent George P. George, receiving 48.4 percent of the vote.

In his campaign, Trevor emphasized his familiarity with the district, stating, “I know this district, and this district knows me.” He framed his candidacy as a way to “continue the tradition of America First leadership” established by his brother. He wrapped up his message with gratitude to his supporters, promising, “Thank you for your support, and I will work hard to represent you with pride.”
