Massachusetts Couple Loses Custody of Daughter Over Gender Transition

A couple in Massachusetts is claiming that the state took custody of their teenage daughter due to their religious beliefs, which do not support her gender transition.

The parents allege that a school guidance counselor facilitated their daughter’s social transition without their consent and subsequently reported them to the Department of Children and Families. As a result, the state now has full legal custody of the girl. This arrangement is reinforced by a restraining order that prevents her parents and older brother from communicating with her.

While the legal proceedings are ongoing, a judge has temporarily halted the administration of high-dose testosterone to the teenager, with all parties scheduled to reconvene in court on October 29.

Notably, TreVeyon Henderson, a running back for the New England Patriots, reacted to the situation on social media. Rather than expressing anger, he shared a thoughtful message. He quoted Proverbs 22:6, stating, “The God we serve commands parents to ‘Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.’”

Henderson further emphasized that the rights of these parents are being eroded by state intervention. He noted, “These parents who want to honor our Lord and guide their daughter toward the truth are facing obstacles in doing so, as they have been entrusted to lead her away from decisions that could harm her. May justice prevail.”
