TreVeyon Henderson Stands Firm on Social Media Post
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson defended a Massachusetts family on Thursday, whose teenage daughter was taken into state custody after her parents declined to support her gender transition.
The parents, Joseph and Arlene Kutzko, have been in a battle with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to regain custody since legal actions were initiated against them in January 2025. This conflict surfaced around the time they reportedly refused to authorize medical interventions to transition their daughter to a male.
In his social media post, Henderson, who is openly Christian, included a video from Fox News and shared a Biblical quote. He expressed, “These parents who want to honor our Lord and lead their daughter into the truth, and away from what she can’t see that will destroy her just as God has entrusted the parents to do. May justice be served.”
Henderson’s stance appears popular; the post has garnered about 3.5 million views by Thursday evening. Yet, when he spoke with reporters in Foxboro, the media seemed to focus almost as much on this issue as on his readiness for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Yeah, I think the biggest thing, what I saw on my end is I saw the, the state take away someone’s child because they didn’t want to affirm the daughter as a boy,” he said, clarifying why he made the post. “And I heard that the school, without the parents’ permission, tried to transition a child or do some sort of thing to transition her into a boy.”
Henderson reinforced his belief that the family, being Catholic and guided by their morals, has the right to raise their child in a way that aligns with their values. “I think what they were doing, trying to raise their kid the right way from, from what I’ve read and heard, I think that the family did right by not affirming their daughter as a boy, but choosing to affirm her the way that God created her to be as a girl,” he stated.
Reporters questioned Henderson regarding allegations about the child’s father, which included accusations of physical abuse. However, no criminal charges were established, and those charges are expected to be dismissed if the father maintains distance from his daughter.
“I think you’re innocent until you’re proven guilty,” he continued. “So if he was guilty, then that’s on me, because I didn’t know all of that. But if he’s not guilty, if these are just accusations, then I don’t think it’s right to take his daughter away.”
The Boston Herald noted that Kutzko’s attorney mentioned a restraining order against the parents was put in place, following an incident where an unidentified adult helped the child obtain the order while she was under state care for nearly a year. Henderson, however, remains steadfast in his beliefs.
“I think my perspective of this world has changed,” he said, asserting that he’s viewing life through a Biblical lens and feels a calling beyond football. “Football is what I do, but a child of God is who I am,” he remarked.
“With this game or without this game, with money or without money, as long as I have Jesus, I got everything that I need,” he concluded, emphasizing that he is committed to honoring his faith, regardless of the consequences. “I know at the end of the day, it’ll all be worth it.”
