Patriots Fall Short Against Raiders
The New England Patriots were hoping for a strong start to their home season against the Raiders, but they unfortunately came up short, losing 20-13. Next, they will be heading to Miami to face a Dolphins team that struggled in their opening game against the Colts, led by Daniel Jones.
As the season began, I was curious about how the workload would be divided between veteran Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie Trevion Henderson. Well, it’s clear now! Henderson took on the lead role early on, even handling some passing situations, although he didn’t dominate. More specifically, he spun for Stevenson in most scenarios, except when it came to short-yardage situations. This strategy seems to have paid off for him. Henderson had five carries for 27 yards and caught all six of his targets for an additional 24 yards, while Stevenson ran seven times for just 15 yards and caught both of his targets for 12 yards.
Fantasy Football Analysis: Patriots, RB, Trevion Henderson
The Dolphins’ defense was somewhat average last season, especially noticeable in their matchup against Jonathan Taylor in week one, where he didn’t score and averaged just 3.9 yards per carry. However, Daniel Jones was able to rush for two touchdowns against them.
For Henderson, the key is to keep making himself a target. He finished as RB24 in full PPR leagues due to six receptions, but dropped to RB32 in standard scoring. There’s a good chance for him to break off bigger runs going forward, which is appealing. If he can maintain a solid fantasy floor by continuing to catch passes, he deserves a spot in our starting lineup.
Should You Start or Sit for PPR Leagues in Week Two?
Start. Henderson is a strong receiver and is likely to see more targets than Stevenson. I’m comfortable starting him as a flex option in PPR leagues.
What about Standard Leagues for Week Two? Start or Sit?
Sit. It’s a bit of a tough call. Could Henderson have earned more touches in the first game? Perhaps. But I doubt the team will pull Stevenson early, especially as they push toward the end of the game. I like Henderson’s potential for big plays, and while he has Flex Appeal in standard leagues, his floor could be shaky if he doesn’t score from receptions.
