Dallas Cowboys Face Injury Setback
The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has faced a tough situation after Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs was involved in an “accident” at home and has now entered concussion protocol, as announced by head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Unfortunately, he will be sidelined for the upcoming game against the Washington Commanders.
This incident took place on Thursday evening, just a couple of days before the critical match. The timing, obviously not ideal, adds to an already challenging season for the Cowboys. They have struggled defensively, unfortunately allowing the most yards per game in the league and ranking high in points scored against.
As a result of these struggles, the Cowboys find themselves 2-3-1 in the division, making the NFC East title chase quite competitive. The Philadelphia Eagles, the reigning Super Bowl champions, are currently leading with a record of 4-2. Meanwhile, the Commanders sit at 3-3, and the New York Giants, surprisingly, are at 2-4 after defeating the Eagles last week.
Diggs has had his share of injuries lately, which is concerning, especially considering his stellar performances in previous seasons, like being a first-team All-Pro in 2021. Last year was particularly tough; he only managed to play two games and missed a total of six games.
With Diggs out, the Cowboys’ defensive prospects look bleaker as he is a key player. It’s certainly not the news fans were hoping for, and the team will need to adjust quickly. The expectations, of course, remain high, but without key players, one has to wonder how well they can perform moving forward.
