Cowboys Cornerback Trevon Diggs to Miss Game Due to Concussion

The Dallas Cowboys faced another setback this Friday as cornerback Trevon Diggs has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Commanders due to a concussion. The specifics of how he received the injury are still uncertain.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed the media, revealing that Diggs had an accident at home that morning. He came in reporting the concussion symptoms. “He is being evaluated by our doctors and is following the necessary protocols,” Schottenheimer said. “Unfortunately, he will miss the game.”

Schottenheimer reported, “We’re in the process of gathering more information. We just got the update from the doctor… It seems this incident occurred last night.”

The Cowboys are heading into the matchup against Washington with a record of 2-3-1, putting them in third place in the NFC East—half a game behind the Commanders who hold a 3-3 record.

Without Diggs, a critical player for the Dallas secondary, the defense won’t particularly benefit; they are already struggling, ranking last in the league for yards allowed per game at 411.7, passing yards, and passer rating.

Recently, the Cowboys’ defense faced significant challenges, allowing 183 rushing yards to former player Rico Doodle last week.

On a positive note, it seems that top receiver CeeDee Lamb is likely to return after missing three games due to an ankle issue. His return would greatly enhance an offense that has become one of the most effective in the NFL, averaging 29.7 points and leading the league with 387.5 yards per game.

With Diggs out, the team will have to lean on rookie Trikweze Bridges and second-year corner Kaelen Carsen.

Schottenheimer remarked on Diggs’ situation, calling the injury unfortunate and a part of the game. “We all want what’s best for Trayvon,” he said. “Of course, we wish him well. In this league, unexpected things happen, and you just have to deal with them. You can’t let it keep you up at night. What matters most is that Trayvon is alright, and he seems to be,” he concluded.
