On Monday, Trinity Rodman seemed to bring some luck to her boyfriend, Ben Shelton, as she supported him during his first-round match at the U.S. Open. Shelton triumphed over Tallon Griekspoor in a four-set battle.
Before the match, Rodman had just contributed to her team, the Washington Spirit, winning against Bay FC in the NWSL. Afterward, she headed to Arthur Ashe Stadium where she cheered enthusiastically for Shelton.
Clad in a vibrant, multi-colored shirt, Rodman was seen celebrating in the player’s box, even taking a moment to pose for a photo and flash a peace sign during the game.
The couple officially revealed their relationship back in March 2025 and have captivated fans in the sports community.
Over the weekend, during an interview on ESPN, Rodman showcased her nails, which were creatively designed with a tennis ball, a net, and Shelton’s initials, “BS.” She expressed excitement about attending his matches but noted that her schedule might be uncertain until shortly before the events. “I’m definitely going to be able to go to his first match and we’ll go from there,” she said, sounding both enthusiastic and a bit hesitant.
In the match, Shelton overcame a rough start, losing the first set 1-6 but rebounded with a strong performance in the second set, eventually winning 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7), 6-2. He’s now set to compete against Hubert Hurkacz in the second round.
Following his victory, Shelton acknowledged Griekspoor’s skills, saying, “Obviously a lot of credit to Tallon, he’s a difficult player to play.” He reflected on the challenges he faced adapting to Griekspoor’s style, explaining, “He doesn’t give you a lot of rhythm. I found things really difficult for the first set tonight.” However, he felt he started to find his groove by the second set.
