Broncos Triumph Over Bengals Without Burrow

The Denver Broncos secured a win against the Cincinnati Bengals, who played without their key player, Joe Burrow, on Monday night. The game ended with a score of 28-3, marking a significant victory for Denver.

Longtime NFL analyst Troy Aikman provided commentary from the booth and had some strong opinions about the game, especially surrounding the penalties that plagued the second half. His critique suggested the game was marred by the amount of yellow flags thrown, particularly during the third quarter.

Denver started strong, taking a 21-3 lead into halftime. However, as the game progressed, it became evident that penalties were taking center stage, becoming almost a theme during the third quarter.

One critical call involved Broncos lineman Alex Palchevsky, who was penalized for illegal blocks, and Aikman didn’t hold back his frustration. Joking with his broadcast partner Joe Buck, he expressed that he wouldn’t be silent about the officiating.

Aikman further commented that the penalty calls disrupted the game’s rhythm. He remarked, “It’s a good phone. It’s not a necessary phone…nothing brings broadcast to a halt of screeching than these yellow flags.”

As penalties continued, Aikman found himself criticizing another call when Broncos lineman Luke Wattenberg was flagged for being ineligible downfield. “The product isn’t very good. To be honest… I mean, this is ridiculous,” he stated, highlighting his dissatisfaction.

Out of the 22 penalties called during the game, 18 were accepted, indicating a game heavily impacted by infractions. These interruptions, as Aikman pointed out, certainly affected the flow—and perhaps the enjoyment—of the match.
