Troy Aikman Talks About His Famous Neighbors

Troy Aikman, the Pro Football Hall of Famer, is taking a break before the next NFL season alongside Joe Buck in the broadcast booth. During his downtime, he doesn’t mix with all his famous neighbors in Montecito, California.

Though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also reside in Montecito, Aikman shared his thoughts on why he hasn’t spent time with the couple. “I haven’t come across them,” he remarked, suggesting that while he knows they are nearby, he doesn’t see them socially. “But they’re there, from what I can gather. I think anyone who has a heartbeat knows they’re there. But I’m not hanging with them, that’s for sure.”

Aikman has been busy promoting his line of light beers, playfully mentioning that he can’t imagine Prince Harry and Meghan indulging in those. It seems the couple, since moving to Montecito in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, hasn’t made many friends in the area.

Some locals have voiced their opinions about the couple. One described Markle as a “Starlet,” and conversations around the couple often touch on the challenges of busy roads, rising property prices, and increased tourist traffic. However, not all sentiments are negative. Actress Sharon Stone praised the couple, saying they haven’t come to Montecito to disrupt the community but to be part of it instead.

According to Stone, “My friend said she was sitting in her car, and they rode by on their bikes, waving at her while she was stopped at a light. They are indeed a part of our community.”

Montecito is a hotspot for celebrities, hosting figures like Natalie Portman and Leonardo DiCaprio. Meanwhile, Aikman is gearing up for another season of NFL coverage on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

It seems Aikman doesn’t anticipate forging a friendship with Harry and Meghan anytime soon, keeping his focus on the approaching football season.
