Early exit polls in Georgia, a must-win battleground state (for Trump), are positive for the former president.
Most importantly, NBC exit polls show Donald Trump winning independent voters by +11 points, 54 to 43 percent (more on that below).
Fox News reports that Trump and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris were tied 49-49% in early voting. This is also good news for President Trump, as Republicans tend to win on Election Day.
According to Fox, Kamala is eight points behind Joe Biden's approval rating in the state's most important black vote four years ago. She trails Biden by 13 points in 2020, especially among black men.
The best news for Trump is that CNN's exit poll shows him winning the Georgia independent by 11 points.
Here's the best news (but note that early exit polls tend to roll out overnight as more voters cast their ballots)…Biden won Georgia as an independent in 2020 was obtained with the following results. 9 points. If these early exit poll numbers hold true, Trump has a 20(!) point lead among independents in Georgia.
RealClearPolitics' average Georgia poll shows Trump leading the state by a narrow margin. 1.3 points.
As the night progresses and the actual results are known, it will be interesting to see how they compare to the poll results. Although it's still too early, Trump is likely to do well ahead of the polls in Florida. That overperformance may be state-specific. But if Mr. Trump is winning states by a larger margin than the polls show, even by a point or two, that means he's having a very good night. That means he has a chance to win all seven battleground states and the election.
We'll also take a closer look at New Hampshire and Virginia. If these blue states are as close as Team Trump predicts, it will also show that pollsters are missing some Trump supporters and that we will be roaring through each state tonight. In the midst of all this, this may be good news.
