As President Trump nears his 100th day in office next week, he is facing some unfavorable outcomes.
New York Times/Siena College A poll released on Friday revealed that 66% of registered voters in the US described Trump’s tenure as “chaotic,” while 32% agreed with this description, and 3% were uncertain about how to characterize Trump’s second term.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents expressed that the president’s decisions were “terrifying” upon his return to the Oval Office. Fewer than half, 40%, stated they would not use the term “scary” to describe Trump’s management of the White House.
According to a poll conducted on Friday, 67% of women and 52% of men indicated that they felt apprehensive about Trump’s new policies.
Nevertheless, a segment of voters remains hopeful for change.
The survey indicated that 42% of registered voters considered Trump’s second term to be “exciting,” in contrast to 55% of respondents who disagreed.
The results suggest a downward trend in Trump’s approval ratings following the initial quarter of his second term.
Various polls have noted a decline in support for Trump since the onset of the trade conflict with China, the second-largest economy globally. Tariffs have significantly impacted the stock market negatively since Trump assumed office.
Employers and financial analysts warn that any shifts in presidential leadership could lead to a recession, increasing pressure on Trump to alter his approach.
The New York Times and Siena surveyed 913 voters across the nation from April 21 to 24. The interviews were conducted in both English and Spanish. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
