Trump accuses FBI director of ‘lying’ about Biden’s cognitive abilities: ‘Resign immediately’

Former President Donald Trump accused FBI Director Christopher Wray of “lying to Congress” about being aware of President Biden’s declining cognitive and physical abilities, and called for the “immediate resignation” of senior Biden administration officials.

Republican presidential nominee Biden lashed out at Wray, 57, after he told the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that he has rarely met with the 81-year-old president and has not seen any noticeable decline in Biden’s mental or physical health.

“I don’t see him often, but what you’re describing is not what I’ve observed in my interactions with him,” the FBI director said when pressed by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

Wray also said his meeting with Biden was “uneventful and unremarkable.”

Trump, 78, accused Wray, whom he hired to take on the FBI’s top post in 2017, of “sweet talking” to the committee.

“I saw Christopher Wray at a congressional hearing today being asked whether he noticed any cognitive decline in his many conversations with the unscrupulous Joe Biden,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“[D]”Despite Special Counsel Robert Hur effectively saying Joe Biden was incompetent, had a poor memory, etc., Wray said, ‘Nothing stood out in my interactions with him that I observed,’ and essentially said he found nothing mentally or physically wrong with ‘Joe,'” the former president continued.

“If that is the case, Director Wray should resign from the FBI immediately,” Trump demanded.

“It’s obvious to everyone that Joe Biden is cognitively and physically disabled, and if you don’t know that, you can’t run the FBI,” the former president argued.

“Mr Wray should resign immediately for lying to Congress!” he added.

Many Republicans, including Trump and Gaetz, have accused the Biden administration, including Vice President Kamala Harris, of orchestrating a cover-up to hide the president’s decline from the public.

Biden announced on Sunday he would not seek reelection amid growing calls for him to withdraw from the race amid concerns he is no longer the same mentally or physically as he once was.

But the president vowed to stay in office until the end of his term.

The Washington Post has reached out to the FBI for comment.
