Former President Trump will address members of the National Rifle Association (NRA) at its convention in Dallas on Saturday.
President Trump’s appearance will be his ninth time speaking before gun rights groups and comes as the NRA leadership is experiencing a tumultuous period.
“President Trump has come under relentless attack because he is unafraid to fight for people who share American values,” NRA Interim Executive Vice President and CEO Andrew Arulanandam said in a statement. ” “He is uniquely qualified to speak to members who know what it’s like to stand up for something, even when it’s difficult.”
In his final speech, Trump promised NRA members he would provide stronger protections for Second Amendment rights if re-elected in November.
“The NRA and its millions of members across the country have President Trump’s support, and we know that President Trump has our support,” Arulanandam said in a statement.
Trump is scheduled to speak at approximately 5:15 p.m. EDT.
