The Trump administration will no longer allow illegal immigrants to announce Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Secretary of Mortgages, Housing and Urban Development, Scott Turner, on Wednesday.
“Today, HUD fired an FHA mortgage for illegal aliens supported by Biden taxpayers,” Turner wrote to X.
HUD officials on Tuesday informed FHA-approved mortgage lenders that they no longer consider “non-parents” who are eligible for government-supported low-income mortgages.
“Now non-permanent residents are subject to immigration laws that may affect their ability to stay legally within the country,” wrote Jeffrey Little's deputy housing secretary. letter For a mortgage. “This uncertainty poses challenges for the FHA as the ability to fulfill its long-term financial obligations depends on stable residence and employment.”
It is unclear how many non-permanent residents received the FHA mortgage, but added that for the time being.
“In the past, FHA residency requirements required mortgages to document the status of legitimate residences for borrowers that demonstrate long-term financial stability and eligibility for federal programs,” he writes. “The FHA does not retain citizenship or residence data for loan applications and therefore does not maintain information regarding the number of non-permanent residents who have received FHA insurance loans based on past policies.”
“This update ensures that FHA's mortgage insurance program is managed according to management priorities, while fulfilling its mission to provide access to homeownership,” Little added.
In 2021, the Biden administration ordered FHA mortgage lenders to allow non-permanent residents to register for access to government-supported mortgages by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
HUD's new policy blocks DACA recipients (undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children) and those who are making pending asylum claims from access to FHA loans.

“HUD prioritizes Americans, not illegal aliens,” Turner wrote in another X post. “@potus has pledged to end taxpayer subsidies for illegals, but today we have put an end to the offences receiving FHA household loans.”
The policy change comes the same week that HUD announced it would work with the Department of Homeland Security to ban illegal immigration from public housing.
The HUD shows that approximately 59% of illegal immigrant households benefit from at least one government welfare program, accounting for approximately $42 billion in expenses.
The agency said it has at least 9 million residents of public and subsidized homes “without appropriate information sharing to determine eligibility status.”
