On Newsmax TV's “Finnerty” broadcast on Friday, Sen. Eric Schmidt (R-MO) argued that there must be deportation beyond the push to oust Mahmoud Khalil and the Trump administration.
After defending the Trump administration's push to expel Halil, Schmidt said, “And, frankly, perhaps, deport more. They should probably think they should be taking part in violent protests in 2020, seeing violent black lives protesting and pushing others out of the country. They are not citizens. They are not entitled to the same free speech protection. They are here as guests, and that's it. And I certainly support what the administration is doing here.”
Schmidt added that Halil does not have the same protections as the citizens, and that his actions have moved far beyond his opinion into illegal activities.
He adds, “If you have a student visa or are participating in other guest programs, it will not only violate US laws, but it will not affect it. So, this was beyond simple freedom of speech, but if the issue is merely free of speech, then it's another legal analysis, since he's not a US citizen.”
