Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Monday that the Trump administration has cut 83% of US institutions for the US International Development Program.
The government's Department of Efficiency scrutinizes USAID with wasteful spending and highlights grants for LGBT, climate, diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Even before President Donald Trump took office and the division was officially formed, Doge gave his eyesight to eradicate the suspicious awards of USAID.
“We're pushing forward radical left politics.”
“USAID is spending more than $400 billion in taxpayer dollars to fund foreign aid,” Doge I wrote it January.
The $45 million taxpayer fund said it has reached $520 million for Burma's DEI Scholarship and Africa's Environmental, Social and Governance Project. Another $1.2 billion has been handed over to “private recipients,” according to Doge.
On Monday, Rubio explained that a six-week review of USAID had recently been completed, resulting in 83% of the program being cancelled.
“The now-cancelled 5,200 contracts spent hundreds of billions of dollars in ways that are (and sometimes unharmed) in the US's core national interest,” Rubio wrote in X's post.
“In consultation with Congress, the remaining 18% (about 1,000) of the programs we maintain are intended to be more effectively managed under the State Department,” he continued.
“We would like to thank Doge and our hardworking staff who spent so much time achieving this expiry date and historic reform,” Rubio concluded.
Elon Musk, who has worked with Doge as one of President Donald Trump's advisors, called the USAID audit “tough but necessary.”
“It's good to work with you.” Musk told Rubio. “An important part of USAID should have always been in the national department.”
Last week, Musk defendant USAID says, “interfering with governments around the world and promoting radical left politics.”
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY.) warned on Monday that Congress's current proposed and continued resolution would fully fund USAID despite the announced cuts.
“In spite of the findings of @Doge's Rooney's left-wing USAID program, the Republican spending bill continues to fund the very foreign aid that @elonmusk proposes to cut!” he wrote in post x.
“This bill will continue to spend at inflated pandemic levels and add 2T to your debt this year. Count me in hell!” declared Paul.
Rep. Thomas Massey (R-KY.) has equally noticed that CR will fund the federal government at existing levels until September 30th.
“Rand is right. I'm not even on this CR,” Massy wrote in response to Paul. post.
With another x posthe said the CR “funds USAID.”
“If it passes this week, the CR will be mandated by Trump (now until September) and requires Biden to spend the same amount of money in the same amount he has taken over in office in the last 15 months.” I explained it. “I was able to pass on a recon to undo some things later, but I have no commitment to do so.”
