Trump Administration Assists Alabama Teen Facing Bone Cancer in Finding Treatment

15-Year-Old Receives Life-Saving Cancer Treatment in Los Angeles

A teenager from Alabama is currently undergoing critical treatment in Los Angeles for stage 4 bone cancer, largely thanks to the response from the Trump administration. His story has garnered attention and assistance, potentially changing the course of his health journey.

On April 22, 2026, Will Roberts shared a heartfelt video on his mother’s Facebook page, reaching out to President Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for help. He explained his battle with osteosarcoma—an aggressive form of bone cancer that he has struggled with for about 16 months. In the video, he described how traditional chemotherapy treatments have been ineffective.

“We’ve basically tried everything we can, and we’re nearing the end of the road. We need help,” he expressed, a plea that resonated with many who watched. His mother has been exploring experimental treatment options as they searched for answers.

Will’s video caught the attention of Rick Myers, an Alabama real estate developer, who then informed President Trump about the situation. The request circulated through various levels of the administration, reaching individuals like First Lady Melania Trump and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the CMS Administrator. This eventually led to Will being connected with the Sarcoma Tumor Center in Santa Monica, where innovative treatments might offer new hope.

After flying across the country, Will expressed gratitude for the support that allowed him to access this treatment in California. “I’m so grateful that you all care so much about me getting this drug,” he said, showing appreciation for those who aided him.

Will is set to receive intensive treatments three times a week, each lasting about 30 minutes, in hopes of combating his fierce cancer. To fund the costly medical care, his family has launched a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over $671,000, closing in on their $750,000 goal. The overall treatment is estimated to cost around $500,000, with an additional $100,000 already spent on travel and medical expenses.

Will’s mother shared her deep appreciation for everyone who has supported them. “We didn’t come to California looking for solace. We came looking for opportunity, and what we found here was so much more… the people, the open doors, the peace we felt walking among them,” she noted. Her statement reflects the mix of hope and uncertainty that often accompanies such challenging circumstances. In her closing words, she emphasized confidence: “We’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.”
