Trump Administration Strips Away Even More International Student Visas!

The Trump administration has initiated a new round of visa cancellations for foreign students enrolled at U.S. universities.

Schools across the country reported over the weekend that several visas for international students had been cancelled. It remains uncertain if the visa cancellations are linked to anti-Israel activities by the students involved.

The latest round of visa cancellations has affected foreign students at Harvard University, University of Michigan, Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles, and Ohio State University.

At Harvard, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has annulled visas for three graduate students and two recent alumni.

A visa cancellation was found during a “standard record review.” Harvard Crimson. Most affected institutions were informed of their students’ visa cancellations during the record assessment and reported difficulties contacting the DHS.

“We don’t have information on the specifics of the cancellations or the reasons behind them, but we know that a similar number of students and scholars from institutions nationwide are undergoing comparable changes in status around the same period.”

Four students from the University of Michigan also had their visas revoked by DHS on Friday. One of them departed the country, Detroit Free Press.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on March 28 that visas for students are being revoked “everyday.”

“I argue that what I’m adding to this is something I’ve witnessed on campuses nationwide where students can straightforwardly attend classes. If you’re in this country on a student visa and involved in such activities, we have the authority to deny your visa. I believe it’s reasonable to revoke your visa. We exercise caution to avoid errors. We are not going to allow activists into the U.S.”
