Trump Urges Allies to Become Self-Reliant Amid Oil Supply Issues
President Donald Trump has urged U.S. allies to take more responsibility for their own security as global oil supplies face restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In remarks directed at countries like the UK, Trump stated they should either purchase oil from the U.S. or muster the courage to navigate the Straits themselves. He emphasized that the groundwork has already been laid, insisting that other nations start relying on themselves rather than depend on the United States.
“The next few days will be decisive,” Trump mentioned, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
He criticized nations struggling to acquire jet fuel, such as the UK, which he accused of avoiding involvement in Iranian conflicts. In a post on Truth Social, he suggested that the UK should start buying American oil, emphasizing that the U.S. has plenty to offer. Additionally, he encouraged these nations to “have the belated courage” to access oil themselves.
“You need to start learning how to fight for yourselves. America will no longer assist you, just as you weren’t there for us,” he added. According to him, Iran is on the verge of collapse, asserting that the difficult obstacles have already been overcome. He insists it’s time for other countries to secure their own oil supplies.
Trump also took the opportunity to criticize France for its lack of action regarding Iran, warning that the U.S. would not forget its hesitation.
“France won’t permit military supply flights to Israel across its airspace,” he noted in another Truth Social post. He expressed disappointment at France’s perceived inaction in dealing with what he termed the “Iranian butchers,” reminding them of this inaction for the future.
Currently, the United States is in its 31st day of conflict with Iran, but the administration maintains it is still within the four-to-six week timeline that was previously set.
Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth pointed out in a press conference that the terms have been established within just one month. “The next few days will be crucial. Iran is aware of this, and there’s not much it can do militarily,” he stated.
