Trump Criticizes Sherrod Brown Over Funding Request

During a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, President Donald Trump claimed that Democrat Sherrod Brown had requested a $750,000 earmark for a group that supports drag queen story hours for children. “He wants $750,000 so that drag queens in school can read to our children,” Trump remarked, emphasizing his disapproval of the funding request.

Trump continued to criticize Brown, alleging that he voted against farm loans for Ohio farmers based solely on race. He stated, “He didn’t want white people to get farm loans,” and accused Brown of introducing legislation that would allow adult men to stay in battered women’s shelters. “The guy could be sick,” Trump added, expressing his concerns about Brown’s proposals.

The former president also pointed out that Brown had voted against the Keystone Pipeline multiple times and supported sanctuary cities, which he claimed led to the release of illegal criminals onto local streets. “Do not let Sherrod Brown slither his way back into power. You threw him out a long time ago,” Trump urged, encouraging voters to support Sen. Jon Husted instead.

Indeed, during his tenure, Brown did request a $750,000 earmark specifically for Harmony Project Productions, Inc., a group focused on community development through arts and education. Their mission, as outlined, aims to strengthen community bonds and give voice to local residents.

This funding was intended for the renovation of a community space that could accommodate the group’s growth and assist local partners lacking sufficient facilities. Notably, before this request, the Columbus-based organization had organized a drag queen story time event in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The group shared footage from the event on Instagram, inviting people of all ages to believe in their dreams together.
