Trump allegedly dismisses AG Bondi and considers EPA head Zeldin as a successor.

Bondi moves former death row prisoners to high-security prison following Biden's clemency decision

President Donald Trump has reportedly dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, a move confirmed by two sources who spoke to Fox News Digital. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Bondi as a “great American patriot and loyal friend,” indicating she would be stepping into an unspecified role in the private sector.

Trump praised her efforts in managing a significant crime initiative, noting that the homicide rate has dropped to its lowest since 1900. He mentioned that she is moving on to an “important new job” that will be announced soon.

As of now, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will take over as interim attorney general. This information was released by Fox News on Thursday.

Bondi’s firing follows a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office the night before, before his address regarding the Iran war. Reports mention she left for Florida, where she is involved in a child safety initiative related to the NFL.

There are discussions about Lee Zeldin, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, potentially replacing Bondi. Sources indicated that Trump had met with Zeldin on Tuesday to discuss wildfires and transitional matters, suggesting he is a strong candidate for the position. However, it’s worth noting that Trump might reconsider his choice.

On Thursday, Bondi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under Trump, highlighting her commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of the Attorney General role to Blanche and mentioning an exciting position awaiting her in the private sector.

She reflected on her time in the Justice Department, emphasizing the significant strides made in enhancing public safety and security. The decision to let Bondi go follows growing dissatisfaction with her performance, as noted by multiple news outlets.

Interestingly, the dismissal coincided with Bondi’s attendance at the U.S. Supreme Court for oral arguments concerning a pivotal civil rights case.

Bondi’s term has faced scrutiny, particularly regarding her commitment to releasing the complete Jeffrey Epstein file—an issue that, as of now, remains unresolved, leaving many feeling misled.
