Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump shook hands at the 9/11 Memorial to mark the 23rd anniversary of 9/11.rd Anniversary of the terrorist attack.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden, Senator Harris, President Trump and vice presidential nominee Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) all attended a memorial service at the former World Trade Center site, also known as Ground Zero.
Trump and Harris were spotted shaking hands at a 9/11 memorial just hours after their first presidential debate, where Trump and Biden did not acknowledge each other's presence.
Harris, Biden, Trump and Vance stood side by side during the memorial.
Following the ceremony, President Trump visited the New York City Fire Department's Engine 4, Tower Ladder 15. He also visited the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Biden and Harris also traveled to Shanksville to visit the Flight 93 memorial, before traveling to Arlington, Virginia, to take part in a wreath-laying ceremony.
Wednesday is the 23rdrd The anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in American history, when a group of terrorists launched a coordinated attack against the United States, hijacking civilian planes and crashing them into the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and the World Trade Center in New York City.
The terrorists were planning to attack other targets in the United States, but the 40 passengers on board the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 fought back, eventually causing the plane to crash in a vacant lot in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The Shanksville arena is just a 20-minute flight from the U.S. Capitol.
September 11NumberMore than 400 emergency responders, including 23 New York City police officers, 37 Port Authority officers, and 343 New York City firefighters, were killed on November 11, 2001. A total of 2,977 lives were lost on that tragic day.
