Trump and Kash Patel Provide Significant Update on Widespread Crime Initiative

Trump Administration’s Crime Crackdown Update

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump, alongside FBI Director Kash Patel, shared significant news about their ongoing efforts to address crime in the country.

Patel detailed that during Operation Summer Heat, which ran from June 24 to September 20, 2025, authorities made 8,629 arrests and confiscated 2,261 firearms, 421 kilograms of fentanyl, and about 45,000 kilograms of cocaine. Compared to the previous administration under President Joe Biden, arrests for violent crimes surged by 86%.

In total, Patel noted that federal law enforcement arrested 28,600 violent offenders in just seven months. He remarked from the Oval Office, “This is what happens when you eliminate weaponization. These numbers are historic by any standard: 28,000 people arrested—just the most violent felons.”

According to the White House, during Biden’s term, the FBI apprehended between 15,000 and 17,113 individuals for violent crimes.

The White House highlighted that “Let’s make America safe again,” emphasizing that in recent months, FBI offices across all states prioritized fighting violent crime, leading to thousands of arrests of the most dangerous criminals.

Additionally, the administration has enlisted the National Guard to bolster arrests and combat crime in major U.S. cities. In Washington, D.C., since the federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department in August, more than 3,500 criminals have been apprehended. Reports indicate that similar efforts are underway in Memphis, Tennessee, and Chicago, Illinois, with the Memphis Safety Task Force having arrested around 800 individuals, including those suspected of murder and drug-related offenses.
