Trump Visits Texas Flood Damage
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have arrived in Texas to assess the damage from the devastating floods in Kerrville.
On Friday, the couple landed at an air force base in San Antonio before traveling by Marine helicopter to Kerrville, where the destruction from the flash floods on July 4th is starkly visible.
The floods have tragically claimed 121 lives, including several children from Camp Mystic, while over 170 people remain unaccounted for.
Trump is expected to not only evaluate the damage but also engage in discussions with local officials and residents to gather more information about the situation.
According to reports, he will be accompanied by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, as well as Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.
“Unlike what I’ve seen before, Texas is deeply affected by the aftermath, and the Lone Star State needs everyone’s support,” Cruz shared on social media.
Governor Abbott has been providing updates regarding the death toll and missing persons, having visited Kerrville just earlier this week. At a recent press conference, he acknowledged that while Texans are accustomed to flood warnings, the scale of this disaster was unexpected.
“We didn’t foresee a wall of water nearly 30 feet tall,” he remarked.
Authorities will also discuss recovery efforts and future preparedness, which includes improving early warning systems and communication infrastructure.
As of July 11th, the confirmed death toll stands at 121, with more than 170 individuals still missing in central Texas.
This situation is ongoing, and updates will follow as they become available.
