Trump and Xi 'playing a game of chicken': Kevin O'Leary

Canadian businessman and “shark tank” star Kevin O’Leary said President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping were “playing chicken games,” and that Trump has repeated his proposal to attack China with 400% tariffs.

O’Leary joined NewsNation’shill“We discuss Trump’s escalating war on tariffs and trade, and his views on the outlook for the US economy and Trump’s escalating language with China.

“This Chinese thing is crazy, but I like that fact [Trump is] Squeezing this deal… we have to resolve that it’s not about trade with China anymore,” O’Leary explained.

“It’s IP rights. It’s their access to the market,” he continued. “Chinese companies trade money in the US market. China is very different from other traders.”

O’Leary doubled his belief that 400% tariffs on Chinese goods coming to the US should be implemented by the Trump administration.

“You know you have to be overstated about this,” O’Leary said. “Xi and playing cards… it’s a chicken game. Two cars come to each other. You’ll have to solve it.”

O’Leary has also decided to defend the mission behind Trump’s latest sweeping tariffs and further strengthen the American economy.

“Let’s remind everyone that 62% of American jobs are created by small businesses, between 5 and 500 employees,” he said.

“That’s the essence of the American economy,” the investor added. “They’re economics.”
